Allstate came into existence upon an idea of direct mail order insurance. It went into business in 1931 and after two years of struggling into existence the Allstate Insurance Company slowly gained ground with its sales of auto insurance policies. Management was constantly trying to find ways to increase revenue with different tactics for increasing sales, and left the Sears, Roebuck, and Company's catalog service and started hiring salesmen.
